For the last few months I have seen the hash tag 100 happy days around on various friends pages and wondered what the heck it was. The common theme among them were unique pictures from their perspective of things that make them happy and help them maintain positivity in their lives. I watched these people enjoy new things, experience life, meet new people, become pregnant, amongst other things. Finally yesterday I googled this phenomenon. There is a webpage for it and it is actually pretty interesting how it is described. I decided to do the challenge, as the site states, for me, not for anybody else.
One thing you may say (and that I have heard a few times today) is “Why can’t you just be happy all the time without advertising it?”. I’m not sure about you, but there are large spans of time where I feel very stressed, down, depressed, or just unmotivated. I put so much emphasis on the overall “bad day” of it all and usually don’t take a look at those moments, however fleeting they may be, that just make me happy. Try as you may, no matter your situation, everyone has something, a moment, a place, a thing, a person or animal that makes them happy. Even for a second. I chose to do this challenge to make sure I am focusing on these moments, even if some days they only account for 1% of the pie chart of my life for that day.
I challenge you all to do the same. You don’t have to do the official challenge, but do take time, in a journal or even in a daily reflection before bed to take note of those moments that made you happy.
I’ve been doing the challenge for the last three months or so, and it really has made such a difference to my life. I highly recommend it, for all the reasons you have stated here! Good luck with it!
